I am starting this blog to educate people about the Amsterdam Coffeeshop scene and share some of my personal travel experiences about my many trips to "The Dam". First, I will give you an idea of who I am...My name is Jim Peace. I am 40 years old and from the NJ Shore. I am a disabled/retired NJ Correction Officer and medical marijuana user. I discovered Amsterdam from watching a New years around the world broadcast on CNN in 1999. They showed a guy on CNN with a monster joint partying it up at Dam Square. Needless to say, I was there within two weeks on January 11, 2000. The flight was $300 round trip including taxes. I have only missed 2 New Years in Amsterdam since! I also go about 3-4 additional times a year and have since published my own travel guide for smokers called the Amsterdam Travel Companion. Smokers in America are repressed and smoke in fear of prosecution so a visit to Amsterdam is an amazing feeling. To have a place that embraces you as a smoker is a great feeling that every one of us should try at least once.
